Geography

Animus is a planet with a diameter twice that of Earth. Naturally, its gravitational field is much stronger, but quite unnaturally, it fluctuates manifesting itself erratically, due to the planet’s mobile core and powerful magical field. Animus’ ovoid, egg-like shape is the result of an eon-long tug-of-war played with the planet by its two suns, which orbit Animus in opposite directions high above the poles.

The world’s peculiarities and wonders are too numerous to name, but its description cannot be complete without mentioning its soft, spongy MOON, the unique orbit of which, weaves in and out of the planet. The closer the moon gets to Animus, the more compact it becomes, crushed by the planet’s gravity. Every night it falls into a crater of one of the five MOON MOUNTAINS that surround the continent: Mt Donder, Mt Crunchberg, Mt Everblessed, Mt Kooji or Mt Ha-Ha Rat. Each Moon Mountain is connected to its neighbours by underground acceleration tunnels, through which the moon travels sped up by gravity, until it reaches the next crater and is shot out, to rise the next night. The moon expands as it rises and shrinks as it descends, falling into the next crater at dawn. This bizarre dance, orchestrated by gravity and the planet’s magical nature has been going on like clockwork for billions of years.

The inhabited landmass sits at the crown of the world, with a tropical sea at the pole. Whereas the equator is a frozen wasteland that surrounds the planet like an icy belt. There is but one gigantic continent enclosing the warm, vast Sky Ring Sea and, in turn, itself locked in by the Frozen Ocean ending in an Arctic Band around the equator. None who have ventured into the frozen waste have returned (so far).

POOZESTAN (or POEZESTAN in old Catin) starts out as a desert, on its border with the Great Valley Gorge and rises to a plateau that ends at the foothills of the Frostbite mountain range, on the other side of which, lie the highlands of the dog nation of BOW-WOWRIA and beyond that— BOVINIA, which ultimately, ends in a rain-forest jungle—PADDESTAN, that shares a border with the Great Valley Gorge, the entrance to FIENDLAND which lies beneath the tropical jungle.
